Last Call for the 2012 Student Essay Contest: Deadline Friday, March 30th

Greetings Fellow Consortium Students!

As we near the middle of March submissions to the Seventh Annual Ecumenical Essay Contest sponsored by the Consortium Student Board in partnership with the Ecumenism Committee of the Washington Theological Consortium are drawing to a close.  So we encourage all students from our member institutions to submit.

This contest is a great way to cultivate academic research and to further Christian ecumenical discussion. The following link includes the names and papers of previous Ecumenical Essay Winners:

The winners of this contest will be awarded $125.00 and their essays will be published in Eastern Churches Journal. Winners will receive their awards during the Friends of the Consortium Reception.

All entries must strictly focus on a topic of a Christian ecumenical nature. There are two potential ecumenical aspects/topics for this year’s contest:

1) “Academic or Theoretical Focus on Ecumenism”

2) “Ecumenical Models or Implementation Strategy”

As always, the essays will be judged by Consortium faculty members for both quality of scholarship and ecumenical contribution.

The deadline for this year’s contest is 30 March 2012. To enter, three separate documents formatted in Microsoft Word or PDF formats must be sent to the following email address with “Essay Contest” in the subject heading: wtc@washtheocon.org. The three documents are as follows:

1. The paper (2,500-7,500 words in length, with author identification information removed).

2. A 300-500 word summary (with author identification information removed).

3. Author contact information

Any further questions please contact the office of the Washington Theological Consortium or your student board rep or see the flyer below.

May God Bless your submissions as we ever strive to fulfill our Lord Jesus Christ’s prayer “That they may all be one..” John 17:21
